Snail shells

from Dogwood Canyon

06

These slow steady snail shells are a very small sample of Dogwood Canyon.

Dogwood Canyon is being preserved as a slice of pristine nature easily accessible
to the North Texas urban youth who lack other opportunity to experience these wonders.

This amazing canyon environment documented by science, art and youth can be merged
into a database like Specify.

Shortly before she died, our friend, Lorene Gibson introduced us to Dogwood Canyon
During my childhood, experiences with nature shaped the quality of my life.
These experiences create a feeling of ownership with nature I want to share.

So slowly, over time, I will add more images and observations about
Dogwood Canyon.

Here is what I have in mind:

I want a series of artists to document the canyon along with the scientists that Audubon
has been bringing in. Then I want to see a book published from the art/science documentation.
And then I want to see a documentation database that meshes the artists and scientists with the
students Audubon is brining in. The database needs to be accessible from the web, so the kids have
a direct connection with art and science, through a specific piece of pristine environment.

I want these kids to share a similar sense of ownership of nature to that I have with Dogwood Canyon.
