I have been on frognet since 2003. I keep a 29 gallon naturalistic viv. I am a HR recruiter for a Medical Center in the Bronx. I started with turtles when I was 10. I got my first snake (Yellow and Black Tiger Rat snake) when I was 15 yrs old. Then when that snake died 13 years later, I converted the 55 gallon tank into a water/land palaudium. I put in eatsern newts, red bellied newts and fire-bellied toads. I was able to get my toads to breed after some time by putting them in my refrigerator to simulate the wintering stage. I got married in 2000 and gave up my tank because I no longer had the time for it. I found PDF's by accident, while doing research on a yellow and black toad I saw in a pet store (bumble bee toad). That led me to pics of Luecomela, Auratus, Azureus..... . The blood starting pumping again and I felt alive. I convinced my wife into letting me start up a viv in the living room, by making it a centerpiece for the room. I live in an apartment, an d don't have the luxury of having a Frog room, but I will have one when we buy a house someday. I am a newbie with 3 Auratus that I purchased at NY Reptile expo. I want to breed these and trade for different frogs when I get good at these. I thought the feeding would be as easy as the fire-bellied toads, but this hobby is so much different. I used to feed the toads black worms on a moistened napkin, and maggots that I would harvest on rotting meat on my windowsill (wife would never go for that anymore). You have all helped me so much with my deformed frog and the calcium questions from 2 months ago. And with the Staph MRSA questions I had when my son got sick ( by the way he is doing good, and he is off the antibiotics yesterday).
