One of my greater passions is marine biology, and first discovered the keeping of dendrobates on Ken Uy's website as I was checking out homepages of reefkeepers. Being accustomed to heavy amounts of research, I started reading as much as I could about various dendro species, false bottoms, viv construction, etc. This hobby is much like that of reefkeeping, and the intricate yet incredible allure of such an ecosystem drew me right in as I anxiously prepared a viv. However, my wife and I were expecting twins in just a couple months, and not knowing if I would be able to take care of cultures and dendros while taking care of newborn twins and their 18 month older sister...I sided on caution and put the plans on hold.

Well, a year later life has settled down a bit more. I'm a year into my career, but finishing up my B.S. in psychology(youth and family studies) in the fall. Things will still be busy (that comes with the job), but just last week on a whim I checked out the Frognet gallery and was reinspired by all the new vivs on display! I have seen a few setups and designs that really appeal to me and would be more simple for me to create than I had originally planned, but I'm going to take things slow to make sure this is something I can really commit to.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the information to be shared and learned, as well as the many discussions to be followed. And who knows...maybe down the road even participate (the rain forest is a bit different than the reef flat, so I'm not quite in my element yet). Thanks!

Ron
