Hello my name is Nate Burns. I guess now that I’ve posted something I
better introduce myself and jump in all the way. I live in Western
Pennsylvania with my wife and 3 week old baby boy (our first). I work in a
local church as the youth pastor. I love animals and have owned some
interesting “pets” in the past. I also love the outdoors and my wife and I
enjoy photography quite a bit. I think that these interested have helped my
enjoy getting into dart frogs.
Owning my first dart frog was actually a process that took place over
several years. About 7 years ago I was at a pet shop that specialized in
unusual animals. I was looking through a book and fell in love with a
picture of a blue jean morph. I approached the owner about getting one, but
he never was able to track one down. I forgot all about dart frogs until
last year. I was visiting a small town in the middle of no where and we
happened to stop by a pet shop and they had an azureus (dead because of
neglect). This struck up my interest and I soon began doing as much
research as I could.
I bought my first frog (azureus) in August of 2003 and have really enjoyed
setup up a simple tank for it and learning more about dart frogs and
researching plants and such to setup a beautiful tank. This past September
I bought my second frog (orange galactonotus). I am now in the process of
putting together a great terrarium and I am also debating on getting a pair
to breed or buying a couple different darts to add to my collection. I am
always on the lookout for froggers in my area! Also I am still in love with
the blue jean morph so if anyone has a couple that they are itching to get
rid of let me know. I’ve talked with several breeders but no one seems to
have any.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I am looking forward to getting to know many
of you and I’ve enjoyed learning from many of your discussions.
