Hi all, I thought I'd get in on the intro action before school starts tomorrow, after which I will have significantly less free time to jabber about the real important stuff... herps! Anyhow, my name's Jared Morris, and as i mentioned, I am a student. I attend Sierra Junior college in Rocklin Ca, just out side of Sacramento. I started out in my post high school life as a pottery apprentice. I abandoned that when I realized how hard it is to make money as an artist without selling out. On to the trusty literature major I decided, and begin wasting the next 2 years getting an A.A. and transfer credits. "Wasting?" you say? Yep, because I finally settled on being a vet... or so I thought. I worked at a vet clinic for a year, and realized that I couldn't handle the ethics... the ethics of wanting to murder every stupid, careless, and irresponsible animal owner, that is. So I'm now set on not settling, and instead, just continuing on with a Biology degree, with an emphasis on ecology (thanks to inspiration from our own Mr. Brock). I'll hopefully end up at UC Davis in a few semesters to finish my B.S., and then maybe onto Berkeley for a Masters... and possibley a PhD someday.
Enough about my education though, how about my personal life, huh? Well, I'm 21, and married to an equally young girl named Anna. Classic high school sweetheart story... except I didn't even have to knock her up before marrying her. In fact, we still are holding off on kids until she gets settled in her career of teaching pre-school.. We live in a double wide mobile home... which is not nearly as red-neck as it sounds. We are on a quest to turn our mobile home into a real home with plaster, paint, molding, new floors, and most importantly, love (and lower-back pain). We share our home with three cats (and a fourth temporarily), a beardy, a Uroplatus henkeli, a fish tank, and a beta bowl. I will soon be adding another Uroplatus, and a Cordylus Mosambicus pair hopefully (when spouse and finances permit, that is).
You probably noticed, in reading my animal listing, that I actually do not keep darts. It's true, I am primarily a lizard person (though darts are definitely in my future :- ), but I try to utilize many aspects of viv technology and maintenance usually used just by dart keepers. I am a member of The Naturalistic Vivarium group on Yahoo!, but frognet is just such an indispensable resource for anyone interested in vivariums of any type, simply because of the brain-trust found here. I try to keep my viv questions on topic enough, though they are usually not directly about darts.
Jared
