Since I was away on vacation when the flood of intros started, I will re-submit mine now.

I live in Tempe, AZ about 3 blocks from ASU where my girlfriend Paige attends. I had my first auratus and leucomelas in 1999 while I was attending NAU in Flagstaff, AZ. The frogs, sadly, succombed to my irresponsibility after about a year.

At the end of 2002, Paige and I decided that we would put together a 50 gallon vivarium for terribilis. Since then, we now have 7 vivariums and 15 frogs (P. terribilis, D. leucomelas, D. imitator, D. Azureus and D. tintorius (Alanis). I am ridiculously obsessed with not just the frogs, but plants as well. I have begun to barely dabble in growing tropical cp's and also have a ten gallon planted aquarium. I am 24 years old, work at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport as a food and beverage manager and am inching along trying to finish the B.S. from NAU that I started. I envy those of you that have a local group/club/organization/society dedicated to this hobby and hope that those of us in the Phoenix area can get together and form one of our own.

I have been on Frognet since March of this year, but rarely post...I do, however, read everything. My gallery is www.frognet.org/gallery/davidknight. Most of the tanks are grown in now and look much better, as well as frogs being switched out, plants added/taken out, etc. I will update it soon.

Paige and I are in the planning stages of a new vivarium which will be our largest so far. We are hoping for a cube shape over 70 gallons, but this depends on what we can find for what price. We plan on using expandable foam/granite, but this all depends on size/shape. I would like to use a canister filter with this set-up for subtle water features. Does anyone have any suggestions on brands/models?

I'm sure you now know more about me than you ever would care to know!

My name is David Knight and I reside in Tempe, Arizona, about 2 blocks away from ASU. I am a perpetual college student enrolled in Northern Arizona University's distance learning program (I lived in Flagstaff for 4 years and actually attended said university for 3). My major is reluctantly Hotel Restaurant Management. I also have a full time job as a food service manager at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

I have recently got back into this hobby, now that I possess the maturity that it takes to deal with the specialized needs of dendrobatids. I have acquired 0.0.3 sub adult P. terribilis mint phase which I house in a 50 gallon false-bottom vivarium that has been up and running since before Christmas. Finally, my girlfriend and I have gone through enough trial and error with flora that everything is now flourishing. There are 6 different bromeliad species as well as other plants (including aquatics in my shallow water feature). I use pillow moss, java moss and a locally collected unidentified species which is THRIVING. My lighting consists of 2 Exo-Terra UVB bulbs: 2.0 and 5.0, and one Home Depot shop light fixture with one bulb taken out (this comes on for 3 hours a day). My water is filtered with an internal Duetto. My humidity is at 85-95%, with a varied temperature gradient (I have a point and shoot lazer thermometer), never going over 82 degrees and never under 73-74 at night. I also have an ultrasonic fogger (not humidifier) which serves no purpose except for aesthetics when I turn it on for 10 minutes every other day or so. I plan on adding 2-3 more P. terribilis in the future to complete the colony. We have set up another 10 gallon false bottom without a water feature to house 0.0.3 juvenile D. leucomelas, which I receive tomorrow. I am in debt to Greg Sihler at Arizona Dendrobate Ranch for the vast amount of knowledge and plant clippings he has shared with me! I am looking forward to sharing information and knowledge through frognet!
