My name is Donn Edwards, a career Sailor with over 20 years in the Navy and soon to be retired. My education is in Field Ecology, which I will be returning to soon – somehow I wound up being an Avionics Technician in the Navy – go figure. I still consider myself to be somewhat of a newbie. I have kept amphibians and snakes for about 25 years and Poison Frogs for about five years. Been on and off frognet since I got my first poison frog. If you look up the definition of lurker, you’ll probably find my picture right next to it. Slowly over the past few months I’ve started to come out.

I currently keep nine species and started out like most others with auratus, leucomelas and moved on from there. In the past year or two I have become more and more interested in thumbnails and eggfeeders. My latest interest has been castaneoticus. I have bred almost all of my frogs but don’t do so for profit. I either trade or keep the offspring. Over the past year or two I’ve done a lot of experimenting with tad raising – mostly tinkering with the water – in particular rainwater.

Keeping frogs would be impossible for me without my beautiful wife and kids … and yes, this list. Its hard to keep a collection when you’re out to sea for up to nine months at a time.

One of the great things about this list is that just when I begin to think I “know it all” , someone will post something that makes me say “I didn’t know that” ….. and the learning continues.
