It's been a while since I have posted an intro so hear goes. My name is Dave Calkins. I live in the great Northwest, in a little place called Oregon. I am a general contractor; I have taught construction for several years to both high school and college students; I also have worked with the youth in our church for 20 some years. Working with Kids is great isn't it.

I have been into frogs and critters for over 30 years and have been collecting various frog stuff for most of that time. Porcelain, pewter, stone, bath mats, kitchen canisters, etc. There isn't a room in the house that doesn't have some kind of frog stuff in it. I have a wonderful wife who supports the frog habit, along with two great kids, a son that's nine and a daughter who just turned three yesterday.

The frogs I work with are Green & Black Auratus, Leucomelas, and a set of some kind of hybrid that were in need of a good long term home. Just don't tell the other folks here about that, though, because to some, Hybrids can be a bit of a touchy subject. :o) All total, we have 16 frogs, two dogs, two cats, and a bunch of fish all wrapped up in a small 880 square foot house. Life is cozy. Life is good.

I have been on frognet for something like 7 years now. Man does that make me feel old. You have come to the right place to learn about Dart Frogs, as Frognet has a lot of extremely knowledgeable and helpful folks here. Truly it s a great place to learn about these beautiful creatures.

Have fun with the frogs.

Just a short reintroduction. I'm Dave Calkins. I build and remodel things. Houses, Banks, whatever. I have been into frogs for over 30 years, collecting all kinds of frog stuff. Every room in our small house is filled with different frog things. I have had live frogs and salamanders for many years. I have a 17 year old salamander and 4 young luecs that are growing well, along with one dog and two cats. I have a wife of 23 years who puts up with my interests, she buys me most of my frogs. I have two great kids; my son is 8 years old and my daughter is a couple of months shy of being 2. Some of you would be interested in hearing about my daughter. Last October she was diagnosed with having ceribal palsey. Recently we had her evaluated at the Shriners hospital. After a four hour evaluation they said that she seemed to be growing out of whatever it was, and that she definitely does not have CP. They commented that if they didn't have her medical history, they would not have believed she was not a healthy normal little girl. That truly has been an answer to a lot of prayer.
