metamorphosis study

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History frog human skin correlations

Comment:
In two days these tadpoles with long beautiful tails and well formed back legs go through the strenuous process of forcing their front legs that have developed beneath their skin to burst through the skin that immediately heals. Within a few hours the front legs strengthen the feet develop functional toe pads and over the next few days their tails shrink nourishing their fast metamorphosis to frogs.
